Seminar on food science, tech at SUB

The Department of Food Science and Technology of State University of Bangladesh (SUB) organised a seminar on " Advances in Food Science and Technology" at the auditorium of the university Sunday, said a press release.
PRAN Group CEO Amjad Khan Choudhury was the keynote speaker on the occasion. In his speech, Amjad underscored the need for development of agro processing sector for overall national economic progress.
A lively discussion on food safety, quality control and good manufacturing practice, prevention of adulteration for proper economic development and protection of health of the consumers was followed after the address.
SF Rubbi, head of the Department of Food Science and Technology, in his welcome address informed the audience about the present situation of food science and technology in our country and emphasised the requirement of food safety, hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP), good manufacturing practice (GMP) and prevention of adulteration.
Chairperson of the session was Ilyas Dhami, who discussed the role of SUB in bringing in new dimension in training and education of the country.
