The High Court on Tuesday directed the authorities concerned of the government to formulate a time-bound action plan to identify the major sources of air pollution and to reduce the air pollution.
It also asked the respondents to take steps for sending alert message to the people with guidance on taking self-protective measures when air quality level will reach at 'unhealthy', 'extreme unhealthy' and 'dangerous' levels.
The Department of Environment and other respondents will comply with the order.
The High Court bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) regarding the issue.
