CHITTAGONG, June 04: Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) has undertaken an initiative to construct a modern Bus terminal at a cost of Tk.290 million over 20 acres of land on the south of Fouzdarhat Cadet College at North Salimpur area, CDA sources said,
The very spacious and modern two storied bus terminal would provide parking facilities for over eight hundred vehicles.
The construction of the terminal, financed by the CDA, will begin by the beginning of next year. Its project profile has already been sent to the concerned ministry for approval.
The CDA sources said, as the vehicles plying on long routes were not allowed now to enter the City area, the chaircoaches of long routes were being parked beside the road at Alanker area. Apart from traffic congestion, it also was causing immense suffering to the passengers as there were no waiting room and toilet facilities there.
Considering all the issues, the bus terminal is being constructed at the selected site at North Salimpur area.
Sources further said, the newly built terminal would be well equipped with all the modern facilities including workshop, gas and patrol pump, mosque, shops, recreation centre, office, shopping mall, and a small sized health centre.
When contacted, a senior official of CDA told the FE that on obtaining approval of the ministry, construction work of the terminal would start at the beginning  of next year.
