Shaheed Capt Qader's 39th death anniversary today

On this day in 1971, Shaheed Capt Aftabul Qader, Bir Uttam, embraced martyrdom in a direct confrontation with the occupation Pakistani forces at Mahalchhari of Khagrachhari district.
Captain Qader is the first Bangladeshi army officer who was on holidays in the then East Pakistan and who took active part in the War of Liberation to die a hero's death after having fought a number of very successful battles in the Chittagong region.
Of the eight brothers, Capt Qader's eldest brother ambassador Dr Afsarul Qader and second brother, state minister and Bangladesh ambassador to the USA Akramul Qader requested all to pray for the salvation of the departed soul. They also sought doa for the other brother, a final year dental student of DMC, who got lost during the War of Liberation.
