SI returns Tk 50,000 to owner

A Shahjahanpur Police Station sub-inspector returned Tk 50,410 to its owner, who said he lost his bundle of cash on his way to office.

Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that Sub-Inspector (SI) Ashiqur Rahman found the money in front of Noor Sanitary (opposite to Sohag Paribahan Bus Counter) in the capital's Malibagh at around 5:15 PM on Thursday.

He counted Tk 50,410 in the bundle in front of pedestrians and informed the matter to them and nearby shops owners, according to police.

A man, identifying himself as Kawser Ahmed (37), claimed the money as his and said that he lost it while returning to his office Holy Life Drugs Addiction Cure Centre after withdrawing it from a bank.

SI Kawser Ahmed questioned Kawser Ahmed after informing the matter to the police high ups and then returned him the money following some formalities.

Locals, pedestrians and nearby shops owners praised SI Ashiqur Rahman for his professionalism and honesty.
