SI suspended for taking bribe

MADARIPUR, June 6 (bdnews24.com): A Sub-Inspector (SI) of police in Madaripur has been put under temporary suspension for allegedly taking bribe.

The SI has been posted as in-charge of the Charmuguria Police Camp in Sadar Upazila, Madaripur.

Madaripur police super Khandakar Faridul Islam said Maqsudur Rahman, the Investigation Officer (IO) in a case filed under the Prevention of Repression against Women and Children Act, had been caught taking bribe from the complainant Wednesday night.

"Maqsud has been taken off duty since then. He will also have to face disciplinary actions," the police super (SP) said.

Police officials said one Salma Begum had informed the SP about the IO's demanding money from her.

Maqsud was caught while taking the money from Salma Begum Wednesday night.
