Police arrested Thursday Abu Sufian, an employee of ZH Sikder Women's Medical College Hospital, on charge of assaulting Prothom Alo reporter Shishir Morol, reports UNB.

Police arrested Sufian, a telephone operator of the hospital, Thursday afternoon.

Hospital sources said the authorities had already sacked Sufian who along with Dr Shafiul Azam beat Shishir at the hospital Tuesday.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Hazaribagh Thana Moinul Islam said they arrested Sufian from the Gulshan branch of the hospital.

Efforts are on to arrest Shafiul Azam, too, he added.

Dr Shafiul Azam, head of the cardiology department, along with Sufian swooped on Bangla daily Prothom Alo special correspondent Shishir Tuesday and beat him and confined him for about two and a half hours when he went to the doctor to have his version about some allegations brought against him.

There are allegations that Dr Shafiul has been using several designations like associate professor in one place and professor in another place of his practice and continuing his job at the private hospital for long despite being a government physician.
