Editor of The Financial Express Moazzem Hossain emphasised Wednesday the need for simplification of income tax return submission procedures to inspire more people in paying tax.

Inaugurating a two-day programme titled "Orientation course on e-TIN return submission," he also called upon the authorities concerned to make it hassle free and seek less paper documents in return submission.

Mr Hossain said journalists now-a-days have come forward in paying income tax and submitting returns. "It's a good sign," he noted.

Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) organised the function in cooperation with Golden Bangladesh, a consultancy firm which deals with tax submission.

DRU vice president Rafiqul Islam Azad presided over the function. President of Economic Reporters' Forum, Sultan Mahmud Badal and DRU general secretary, Ilias Khan, attended the function as special guests. Chairman of Golden Bangladesh, Jahangir Alam, also attended the function.

State minister for finance MA Mannan will be present as chief guest at the closing ceremony today (Thursday).
