Six DU students receive Mitsubishi Corporation Scholarship

Six students of the Department of Japanese Studies of Dhaka University have received Mitsubishi Corporation Scholarship this year.

Country Representative of Mitsubishi Corporation Bangladesh Myungho Lee handed over a cheque for Tk0.75 million to DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at the latter's office on Sunday as the scholarship money for the students.

Accordingly, each student will get Tk1,24,3000 from the money.

Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of DU Prof Dr Zia Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Japanese Studies Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Director of DU Public Relations Office Mahmood Alam, Assistant Manager Mr Keisuke Yamada, Admin Manager Syeda Shahtaz Saiara and Senior Officer Nusrat Jahan of Mitsubishi Corporation were present on this occasion.

VC Prof Akhtaruzzaman thanked Mitsubishi Corporation authorities for providing scholarship to the DU students.

Terming Japan as one of the largest development partners of Bangladesh, the VC said, "The friendly relationship between the two states has been prevailing since the country's Independence."

This relationship will be further strengthened in the days to come through the scholarship programme, he hoped.
