Six trainee ASPs dismissed from service

The government has dismissed six apprentice assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) from government service while they were undergoing basic training at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi.
The decision was formalised through a gazette notification issued on Sunday by deputy secretary Md Mahbubur Rahman on behalf of the President.
The officers were removed under Rule 6(2)(a) of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1981.
According to the rule, the government may terminate the appointment of a probationer during the probationary period if he or she is deemed unsuitable for retention in the service, without consulting the Public Service Commission in cases of direct recruitment.
The dismissed officers are Md Delwar Hossain, Mahmudul Haque, Md Ishak Hossain, Md Mashiur Rahman, Muhammad Rakib Anwar and Sayed Karim Mugdha.
Sources at the academy said that a total of 102 officers of the 41st BCS (police) batch are currently enrolled in a year-long basic training programme at the Sardah Police Academy in Charghat upazila of Rajshahi.
Police Academy principal Md Tawfique Mahbub Chowdhury, an additional inspector general of police, said the academy had not been informed in advance about the removal of any trainee ASPs. The matter was handled by the home ministry.
