The Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Foundation will appoint a consulting firm soon to develop fashion design technologies to meet the growing global demand by maintaining international standard, reports UNB.
SME Foundation Managing Director Aiyub Miah said: "Country's small and medium entrepreneurs are regularly making outstanding fashion designs. This is not enough. We'll have to use the designs successfully. But, we lacking modern and proper technologies. So, the SME foundation has decided to appoint a consulting firm."
Aiyub Miah made the observation while speaking at the inaugural function of a one month handloom and industrial fair arranged by National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB) at the city's Manik Mia Avenue on the first day of Ramadan.
Presided over by NASCIB's acting president Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury, the function was also addressed by EPB DG Faridul Hasan.
A total of 130 enterprises across the country took part in the fair.
Aiyub Mia said the SME Foundation has also decided to conduct a nationwide survey to collect information on the number and production of the small and medium enterprises.
He said many small and medium enterprises do not get raw materials and fail to make profits for lack of coordination among themselves and with the government. "So, we'll conduct a survey to ensure such coordination."
