BRAHMANBARIA, Mar 22: Rampant smuggling of essential commodities is going on unabated through Akhaura and Kasba border areas of the district, sources said.
Smugglers brought sugar, salt, spices, VCD sets, wine, ganja, phensidyle, heroin, medicines, bicycle, iron, motorcycles, rickshaw vans, and even firearms from India.
They also carried gold, copper, cotton, thread, polyester cloth, watch parts, soap, imitation ornaments, cosmetics and cookeries to India.
Local people urged the law enforcing agencies to take necessary action as early as possible in the country's interest.
