Snatcher lynched at JU

SAVAR, June 6 (UNB): An alleged snatcher, who was seriously injured in mob beating at Jahangirnagar University (JU), succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Monday midnight.

The dead was identified as Abul Kashem (22), son of Kabir Ali of Gerua village near the campus.

Witnesses said Mukhlesur Rahman, a student of URP department of the university, caught Kashem red handed while he was taking away his mobile phone at about 11:30am and raised hue and cry for help.

Later, fellow students and local people rushed to the spot and gave the snatcher a sound beating leaving him seriously injured.

On information, the police rescued Kashem and sent him to the medical centre of the university and later they shifted him to DMCH where he died at about 11:30 pm.

A case has been filed with Ashulia police station in this connection.
