Son kills 90-yr-old father

A nonagenarian man was hacked to death allegedly by his son, said to be an addict, as he refused to give money at Gubindo Das Lane under Bangshal Thana in Old Dhaka Tuesday, reports UNB.

The victim was identified as Md Rezaul Islam (90), a resident of 8/1 Gubindo Das Lane.

Quoting locals, police said victim's drug addicted son Mamun (40), used to demand money from him for buying drugs.

"As other days, Mamun demanded money from his father Tuesday noon, too.  Refused, Mamun locked into an altercation with his father," said Inspector (Investigation) Hasan of Bangshal Thana.

At one stage, Mamun hacked his father indiscriminately with a sharp weapon and fled the scene, leaving Rezaul dead on the spot, inspector Hasan said.

He suspected that it might be a planned killing as Mamun sent his family, including his wife and children, out of their home to somewhere else before the murder.
