Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury urged all to work together for implementation of the existing laws and rules to stop violence against women, reports BSS.
"Violence against women is not only a barrier to social and economic development but also a serious violation of human rights. Proper implementation of laws and rules can prevent violence against women," Dr Shirin, Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad (JS) and chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), made the comments while addressing a conference on "Role of parliamentarians in ending violence against women" organised by British Islands and Mediterranean Region (BIMR) Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians at a hotel in Gibraltar Saturday.
