The government has introduced 28 special ferry services through BIWTA in addition to 35 regular ferries to take the traffic load on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, as people in their tens and thousands are heading home for celebrating the religious festival, reports UNB.
At a press briefing at his ministry Thursday, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said that the special service started on November 23 and would continue until December 6 so people do not face hassles on their way to and from home.
"Passengers are travelling smoothly and the government is monitoring it round the clock," he said.
Khan, who visited terminals at Mawa, Paturia and Dualatdia, said passengers at different ferry ghats were being advised how to travel through video demonstration to avert unpleasant incidents.
