CHATTOGRAM, Sept 09: Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has taken special security measures for the holly Ashura like every year.

CMP Commissioner Mahabubur Rahman said, "Like every year, police have taken special measures to control the law and order situation on the holly Ashura in the port city. We will ensure tight security for the religious people to observe the holly Ashura."

He said, "Police are prepared to resist any unwanted situation and any anarchy in the city. As per directives of the higher authority, CMP and other concerned authorities have taken special measures in this regard."

"Additional members of police are being deployed in the vulnerable areas including the mosques and major spots in the port city. We have already intensified patrolling in the city area. We are conducting raids at the suspected spots where the anarchists may hide," he added.

Meanwhile, CMP directed that the length of bamboos should not be more than 12 feet in the Tajia procession. Nobody can carry the explosive or local made crack (potka) in the Tajia procession today (September 10).

CMP and district police set up check posts at the important spots and intersections in the city. Police are checking the baby taxies, private cars and micro buses at the spots. Locals and passengers are helping the police in their security checks.
