SPs picked by lottery in all 64 districts

Superintendents of police (SPs) have been selected for all 64 districts through a lottery ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections next year, reports bdnews24.com.

The lottery was held at the State Guest House Jamuna, the official residence of Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, on Monday, according to several police sources.

"The selections of 64 district superintendents of police have been finalised through a lottery," said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali, who attended the lottery, on Tuesday. "However, no decision has yet been made regarding the DMP."

DMP Commissioner Sazzat attended the lottery event.

On Aug 6, Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said SPs and officers-in-charge (OCs) would be selected for districts through a lottery system ahead of the polls.
