The government has decided that the SSC and its equivalent examinations will begin on February 1 while HSC and similar examinations on April 1 every year from 2010, reports UNB.
According to an official release, the School Secondary Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent exams will start on Feb 28 in 2008 and on Feb 15 in 2009 while the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and corresponding exams on Apr 29 in 2008 and on Apr 15 in 2009.
It said the SSC results will be published on June 8 in 2008 and on May 25 in 2009, and on May 10 every year from 2010.
The HSC results will be published on Aug 10 in 2008 and July 25 in 2009, while on July 10 from 2010.
The government has fixed the dates in advance both for holding the public examinations and publishing their results so that the examiners get enough time to evaluate the answer scripts.
Meanwhile, the government has issued a circular saying that if any examination cannot be started on the scheduled date due to any unavoidable reason, it will begin the following day or on any other suitable but nearest day.
The Chairman of an inter-educational board will formulate a work plan for the jobs to be done from the start of the examinations and until their results are announced.
The two public examinations will be completed in the shortest possible time without creating any extra pressure on the candidates, the handout said.
