Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader warned that stern action would be taken if anyone charges the home-bound people additional transport fares during the Eid-ul-Fitr journey, reports UNB.

The Minister came up with this remark while talking with the journalists after visiting Gabtoli Bus Terminal in the city on Wednesday to observe the transport situation.

Mr Quader said home-bound people will enjoy a comfortable journey during this Eid as there is no problem on the roads and highways.

When asked about the traffic jam situation, the Minister said traffic congestion has reduced remarkably as roads and highways have been made fit for vehicular movement.

However, some drivers drive vehicles haphazardly that creates traffic jam on the highways, he added.

Mr Quader also said there is no allegation of robbery and extortion on the highways as the law enforcing agencies have taken all-out preparations to make trips of the home-bound people hassle-free.
