Students blocked the Banani-Gulshan-2 road in the city on Tuesday, demanding half fare on circular buses — Focus Bangla

Students blocked the Banani-Gulshan road on Tuesday for about two hours demanding a 50 per cent discount on circular buses.
Students of Banani Bidyaniketan School and College (BBSC) blocked the Banani road at the Kemal Ataturk Avenue (Kakoli to Natun Bazar) Road around 12pm protesting fare hike by two bus operators in the Gulshan-Banani area.
Talking to the FE, Noor-e-Azam Mia, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station, said after a meeting among students, school authority, guardians and representatives from bus companies, students withdrew their protest around 2:00pm.
Citing the bus company officials, he informed that there will be another meeting soon to take decision in this regard. For now the fare will be Tk 20 for the students instead of Tk 30.
The air-conditioned bus operators -- Dhaka Chaka and Gulshan Chaka -- increased fare from Tk 20 to Tk 30 for any destination recently due to fuel price hike earlier this month.
