Students confine DU hall provost for over 3 hrs

The students of Dhaka University's Shahidullah Hall on Saturday night confined their provost to his office for nearly three and a half hours demanding increasing security and library facilities at the dormitory, reports UNB.
Campus sources said suspicious vehicles frequently enter the dormitory. In the early hours of Saturday, the students also saw a Prado jeep entering the hall. esides, the hall library is not rich and modern enough to study.
The inmates of the dormitory came out of their rooms around 9:30pm on Saturday and started demonstrations to realise their demands.
At one stage, the students, led by hall unit Bangladesh Chhatra League president Aminul Islam and its general secretary Miraj Ahmed, went to the office of Provost Prof Azizur Rahman to discuss their demands.
However, the provost allegedly misbehaved with the students. Outraged, the students confined Azizur Rahman to his room.
Later, DU acting Proctor Prof Dr Amzad Ali rescued the provost from the captivity around 1am Sunday.
