Sultan Festival begins in Narail

A two-day Sultan Festival began in Narail Friday marking the 89th birth anniversary of famous painter SM Sultan, reports BSS.
International Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister Gawher Rizvi inaugurated the festival as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, SM Sultan Foundation and Narail district administrator are jointly organising the festival.
Festival programme included art competition, art exhibition, replica exhibition, discussion on life and works of the celebrity, boat riding in the Chitra River and cultural function.
Sheikh Mohammed Sultan, better known as SM Sultan, was born on 10 August 1923 at Masimdia of Narail district. He was declared the Man of Asia in 1982 by University of Cambridge. He won the Ekushey Padak in 1982, Bangladesh Charu Shilpi Sangsad Award in 1986 and the Independence Award in 1993.
