Summer Graduation Parade held at BAF Academy

JESSORE, June 13 (UNB): The Summer Graduation Parade marking the commissioning of No 55 Flight Cadet Course and 5 Special Short Service Commission Course of the Bangladesh Air Force was held here at the BAF Academy Wednesday.
Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman attended the ceremony as chief guest.
The Air Chief reviewed the smartly turned-out parade and took salute. He also handed over awards, certificates and flying badges among the flight cadets.
Flight Cadet Wing Under Officer Faisal Ahmed was presented with the coveted "Sword of Honour" for his best all round performance. He also got Commandant's Trophy for best performance in general service training and Osmani Gold Medal for best performance in academic training.
Flight Cadet Sergeant Md Atik Hassan received Chief of Air Staff's Trophy for his best all round performance in 55 Flight Cadet Course (Ground Branch). Meanwhile, the No 2 Squadron was adjudged the champion squadron and was given Academy Colour. Addressing the newly commissioned officers, Chief of Air Staff said that a well disciplined defence force is a symbol of national sovereignty. .
A total of 17 flight cadets including 4 female cadets were commissioned this time.
Flight Cadet Wing Under Officer Faisal Ahmed commanded the parade. Among others, General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division Major General M Rafiqul Islam, high civil and military officials, parents and guardians of the flight cadets were present on the occasion.
