Speakers at a human chain demanded of the government to ensure duty-free and quota-free access of Bangladeshi products, particularly the readymade garments to the developed markets.
Sushasoner Jonnyo Procharavizan (SUPRO) made the demand from a human chain formed in front of the National Press Club in the city Tuesday on the occasion of the ongoing 7th Ministerial Meeting of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) being held in Geneva.
They also demanded of the government to ensure free movement of Bangladeshi semi-skilled and less-skilled labourers across the world.
The speakers further demanded subsidy to protect the farmers and agriculture sector of Bangladesh keeping the least developed countries' (LDCs) agri-sector outside the WTO policy.
They further demanded inclusion of rights to food to WTO policy without treating agriculture as trade.
The speakers also demanded of the government to ensure job at safer places in the world for the people who have been displaced due to natural calamities.
