Teacher gets life for violating school-girl

A tribunal in the city convicted Tuesday a teacher of Holy Crescent School and College and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for violating a five-year-old schoolgirl in the city, report agencies.

The convict was identified as Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, 24, an Arabic teacher of the school and college in West Shewrapara, Mirpur.

The special court also fined him Tk .20 million, in default, to suffer three years more rigorous imprisonment.

After examining records and witnesses, Tajnina Ismail, Judge of the Dhaka Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-5, passed the order.

Besides, the court asked the family members of the convict to provide Tk .10 million as compensation to the victim's family.

According to the prosecution, Minhaj took the five-year-old girl, a play group student of the school, to a toilet by alluring her to give chocolate and raped her there on March 11, 2014.  

The parents of the child found out about the incident when she was crying in pain on her way home from school. They saw blood on her pants when undressing her.
