Teachers' crisis hampering Barisal MC functioning

BARISAL, Oct 30 (UNB): Teaching and treatment in Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital, the largest public institution in health sector of southern region, is being seriously hampered due to shortage of teachers in the college.
Already five out of 32 departments of the college have been closed and six others are on the verge of closure.
Besides, each of other seven departments is running with only one teacher while each 11 departments have only two teachers.
Acknowledging the facts, Principal of the college Dr Zahid Hossain said they informed the matter to the higher authorities to take immediate steps in this connection.
College sources said classes of physical medicine, dentistry, urology endocrine, psychiatry and metabolic departments have been suspended since long due to absence of teachers in those departments.
