Three judges of the High Court (HC) Division of the Supreme Court (SC) resigned on Tuesday. The judges are - Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury, Justice A K M Zahirul Hoque and Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque.
They have been relieved of their judicial duties since 22 August 2019 after a probe into allegations of professional misconduct was initiated against them.
Law Secretary Sheikh Abu Taher issued a notification regarding their resignation. It mentioned that the judges have resigned in line with the Article 96(4) of the Constitution. The President has accepted their resignation.
Recently, the SC administration informed that a task of verifying the information regarding some judges of the HC is going on in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). However, the council has not yet sent any allegation against any HC judge to the President.
A total of 15 HC judges were relieved from the judicial activities.
