Three killed, girl commits suicide in capital

Three persons were killed in different incidents and one teenage girl committed suicide on Friday in the capital.

The school-going girl committed suicide on the day in Mugdapara area.

The deceased, Munni Akter (14), hanged herself with the ceiling fan around 12:30 pm at her residence in Wapda lane of South Mugda on Friday.  

She was a class VI student of Kamalapur School and College, according to police.

Her father's name is Md Hossain who hails from Banchharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria. Her mother, Afia Begum, works as a domestic help.  

Munni was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition and she died in the hospital around 2:00 pm.

A case has been filed in this connection.   Meanwhile, an electrician was electrocuted while working in Ramna area on the day. The deceased, Mamun (32), died when he was entangled with electric wire.

In another incident, a teenage boy, named Parvez, was crushed under the wheel of a covered van in Tejgaon area of the capital on the day.

The two mentioned above were first rushed to DMCH with severe injuries and later they succumbed to injuries, according to the police stations concerned.  

In yet another incident, an auto-rickshaw driver was knocked down by a truck when he was crossing the road.

The victim, Shafiqul Islam, hailed from Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha.

The accident happened around 6:00 am on the day (Friday) when he was returning home after depositing the auto-rickshaw at the designated garage.He was rushed to the DMCH where the attending doctor declared him dead.

A case been filed with the police station concerned.
