Three killed in city road accidents

Three people were killed in separate road accidents in the city's Asad Gate, Shanir Akhra and Shahbagh areas in 11 hours, reports UNB.

Two of the victims were identified as Hazi Ramzan Ali, 75, a resident of Lalbagh and Rafiqul Islam, 50, a security guard of Peerganj in Rangpur, while another man, aged around 45, was not identified till Sunday afternoon.

Sources at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said Hazi Ramzan Ali met with the tragic accident when he was crossing road at Shahbagh intersection at about 8:00 am on Sunday.

A passenger bus of Shikar Paribahan hit Ramzan Ali and he died on the spot.

A team of Shahbagh thana police recovered the body of Ramzan Ali and sent it to the DMCJ morgue for postmortem.

In another incident, security guard Rafiqul Islam received fatal injuries when a vehicle of 'Leguna Paribahan' knocked him down near Aarong of Asad Gate at about 9:30 pm on Saturday night.

He was rushed to DMCH where he succumbed to his injuries at about 10:30 pm.

Meanwhile, an unidentified man, aged about 45, was crossing the road near Rony petrol pump of Shanir Akhra at about 12:30 am. Suddenly a covered van hit him and fled from the scene.

He was rushed to the DMCH where the on-duty declared him dead.
