Three killed in road accident in Comilla

COMILLA, June 8 (UNB): Three people were killed and two others injured in a collision between a covered van and an auto rickshaw in the Jagorjhuli area on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in sadar upazila Sunday.
Among the dead, two are Sharif Ahmed (27), son of Abdus Sattar of Gopalpur village in Brahmanbaria and Shagor (35), a resident of Chittagong.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Moinamati Police Station Moshiur Rahman said a Chittagong-bound covered van from Dhaka collided with a CNG-driven auto rickshaw in the area around 7:00 am, leaving two auto rickshaw passengers -- Sharif and Sagor -- dead on the spot and injuring three others inside the auto rickshaw.
The injured were rushed to the Comilla Medical College Hospital where another unidentified victim succumbed to his injuries.
Police seized both the vehicles, but the driver of the covered van managed to flee the scene.
