Three members of a family were stabbed in the capital's Banani area early Saturday following an alleged dispute over repayment of debt.
The injured were identified as Sumon Mia, 45, his wife Sonia, 38, and Sonia's brother Russel, 40.
According to Sub-Inspector Jane Alam of Banani Police Station, the incident occurred around 4:30am near Mohakhali Wireless Sishu Mela School. Police said Sumon, a resident of the Mohakhali T&T Colony, was at the spot with his wife and brother-in-law when Arif arrived with seven to eight associates.
An altercation reportedly broke out between Sumon and Arif over repayment of debt money. At one stage, the group allegedly assaulted the three family members and stabbed them indiscriminately, leaving them injured.
