Three of a family poisoned to death

PIROJPUR, Mar 22 (UNB): Three people of a family met a tragic end to their lives after having had seemingly harmless sweets brought by two unidentified guests at Bolpur of Morelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district early Monday.
It later turned out the sweets had been mixed with poison.
The victims were identified as Abdul Haq (55), Rabeya Begum (35), and their daughter Asma (11).
Police said that two persons introducing themselves as relatives of Abdul Haq came to his house Sunday night with two packets of sweets mixed with poison.
Haq and his family members took the sweets after having dinner with their two guests and went to bed.
The next morning, unusually hearing no sounds from the house until 10:00 am, locals entered the house and found the trio dead.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to a hospital morgue for autopsy. The identities of the two reported guests, or their motives behind the brutal murders could not be ascertained immediately.
