Three sentenced to death

CHUADANGA, July 26 (UNB): A special tribunal here Thursday sentenced three people to death on charge of killing two women after raping them.
The condemned convicts are Azid alias Azizul (35), Mintu alias Kalu (30) and Sujan (36), of Railaxmipur village in Alamdanga Upazila.
The court also fined the convicts Tk 0.2 million each.
According to the prosecution, Finge Khatun (35) and Kamala Begum (40) had been killed after they were raped in a field at Railaxmipur village on September 27, 2003.
Later, their bodies were recovered from a banana orchard near the field.
After the incident, Nargis Begum, daughter of victim Kamala begum, filed a case at Alamdanga Police Station accusing the three people.
After examining records and 19 witnesses, Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Motahar Hossain handed down the verdict.
