Three sentenced to life term imprisonment in murder case

JAMALPUR, Sept 21 (UNB): Three persons were sentenced to life term imprisonment by a court here Thursday in a murder case.
The court also fined the convicts - Jamiron, her husband Mofazzal Hossain and Shahidul - Tk 5,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.
According to the prosecution, Jamiron of Kholabari village under Dewanganj Upazila called Jamal Uddin (32), son of Omar Ali Pramanik of Dakkhin Barul village under Islampur Upazila, out of his house on the night of January 15 in 2005.
Later, after about a month the body of Jamal was recovered from river Jamuna at Ghonabari in Belagachha union on February 13. Jamal's mother Jamela Bewa identified the body of her son at Jamalpur morgue and filed a murder case.
Police submitted charge sheet against five people in connection with the killing.
After examining the records and a dozen of witnesses, District and Sessions Judge Mostafa Enamul Hafiz handed down the verdict acquitting two others.
