Thrust on proficiency in robotic technology

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 28: Putting emphasis on proficiency in robot making technology, CUET Vice Chancellor Professor Rafiqul Alam has said engineers need to formulate highly technologic projects and implement them to help achieve mission and vision of the government for a developed country.
Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) first worked on automation in the university level with Robot Mechanics Association coming into being in the CUET 12 years ago.
A team of CUET students also visited the USA at that time.
Prof Rafiqul Alam said GPH Ispat Ltd, a leading steel producer of the country, is patronising robotic projects which deserves commendation.
He was addressing prize giving ceremony of "The Road Show on GPH Ispat Esso Robot Banai" as the chief guest on the CUET campus on Sunday.
Co-founder of Center for Robotic Innovation and Development USA Mehdi Shams called upon the engineers to make high-tech robots and sell them to the external world and to the locally interested groups as well.
He said they came to Bangladesh last year with the robotic technology.
Financed by the GPH Ispat, the innovation was also supported by media partner Channel-i.
Presided over by Prof Kazi Delwar Hossain, the event was also addressed by GPH additional managing director Almas Shimul, Prof Abu Nahian, Dr Mashiul Huq, GPH media adviser Ovik Osman and SGM (brand) Fazle Rabbi.
