Timber worth over Tk 0.10m seized

BAGERHAT, July 25 (UNB): Timber worth over Tk .10 million was seized from a trawler and three smugglers were arrested from Rampal thana Sunday.

The arrested people are-Sabur Sheikh, Jamil Sikder and Nazrul Islam.

Tipped off, forest department officials seized a trawler when it was going through Rampal river and arrested the three smugglers with the Sundari timber.

The smugglers were handed over to the police and a case was filed under forest act.

Smugglers have been smuggling Sundari and other valuable timber from the Sunderbans by roads and waterways for long.
