Tk 10 per kg rice selling begins in Rajshahi, Gaibandha

RAJSHAHI, Apr 05 (BSS): Selling of Taka 10 per kilogram rice began here aimed on Sunday at lessening the suffering of the hand-to-mouth families being caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

"Thirty metric tonnes of rice was sold at 32 points in Rajshahi city areas through the enlisted dealers simultaneously today benefiting a large number of low-income group people," said Raihanul Kabir, Regional Controller of the Department of Food.

BSS from Gaibandha adds: Sale of rice at Taka 10 per kg for the daily wage earners started in the district on Sunday amid coronavirus outbreak situation.

Food Department is implementing the programme here and 2000 daily wage earners like day laborers, rickshaw pullers, van paddlers, transport workers, restaurant workers, hawkers, tea stall owners, beggars and transgender would get rice at subsidized price through 5 dealers, said an official.
