Trailer helper killed in Ctg port jetty

CHITTAGONG, Dec 26: A trailer helper was killed in an accident at jetty number 13 of Chittagong port in the early hours of Thursday. He was identified as Samir Nath.

Port police said trailer helper Samir was engaged in work when a container carrier trailer dashed him at around 2:00 am on Thursday night. The incident occurred in the berth operated by Everest Enterprise, an operator in the port. He was critically injured in the accident.

Police said he was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the attending physician declared him dead. Samir was the son of Kashob Nath of Hashimpur village under Chandanaish police station of the district.

Chairman of berth operators and ship handling operators of Chittagong Port Fazle Ikram Chowdhury said the matter of compensation is being resolved as per rule of the CPA (Chittagong Port Authority).
