Train services disrupted, as two wagons derailed

FE REPORT | March 20, 2025 00:00:00

Train services to and from Kamalapur Railway Station were disrupted for more than one and a half hours following derailment of two wagons from a container train on Wednesday.

Officials said the last two wagons of the container train 605 derailed while entering Kamalapur Railway Station after crossing the Khilgaon rail gate at around 11:35 am.

Train movement in and out of the station was halted until 1:10 pm on the up line while the down line was cleared at 2:10 pm, according to station manager Anowar Hossain.

The derailment caused significant schedule disruptions, delaying train services by at least two hours. No casualty or injury was reported, but the wagons were badly damaged, he said.

According to the Kamalapur station schedule, Chattogram-bound Suborno Express was delayed by two and a half hours as it departed at 7:00 pm instead of 4:30 pm. Likewise, Chitra Express which was scheduled to leave Kamalapur station at 7:30 pm could not reach the station by that time.

Several other trains, including Brahmaputra Express, Egarosindhur Express, and Jamalpur commuter trains, also faced delay due to congestion in the station yard until 8:00 pm. "We are trying hard to minimize the delays and clear the line," the station master added.
