Travel ban on Asif Mahmud's ex-APS

A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Md Moazzem Hossain, former assistant private secretary (APS) to the then LGRD and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, over graft allegations, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order on Monday, allowing a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the ACC plea, during his tenure as the APS to the former adviser Asif Mahmud, Moazzem allegedly amassed millions of taka through influence peddling, manipulation of tenders, and extortion.

It further states that allegations of money laundering are currently under inquiry, as he reportedly transferred the illicit funds abroad and acquired assets in various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Canada, and the United States.
