RAJSHAHI, Dec 22 (UNB): Four people were killed after they were run over by three speeding trucks in three upazilas of the district on Friday.
In Charghat upazila, two youths were killed as a sand-laden truck hit their motorcycle in the Chongatola area on Baneshwar-Charghat road, said officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station Nibaran Chandra Barman.
The deceased were identified as Abdur Rashid, 24, and Suman, 26, both hailing from the Kanaikhali area of Boraigram upazila in Natore.
In Puthia upazila, Nazrul Islam, 50, a staff of Rajshahi University, was killed on the spot as a speeding truck rammed his motorcycle from opposite direction in the Baneshwar area on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway, said Syedur Rahman Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Puthia Thana.
Another rider Mizanur Rahman Babu was critically injured and was taken to a local hospital, the OC added.
A truck carrying sugar knocked down a motorbike on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway, leaving Jewel dead on the spot, said OC of Godagari Thana Hifzur Alam Munshi.
