Twelve persons killed in separate incidents

Twelve persons were killed and many others injured in separate incidents in different places of the country during the last two days, reports agencies.
In Brahmanbaria, three people were killed and 30 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Ashuganj Upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway Wednesday morning.
Quoting witnesses, police said the Dhaka-bound bus from Sylhet veered off the road at Kamaura bus station after hitting a stationary truck at about 11.45pm, leaving one dead on the spot.
Two other people died on the way to Sadar Hospital. The deceased could not be identified immediately.
In Gazipur, a father and her daughter were drowned when a boat capsized in a beel (water body) in Kaliakoir Upazila Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Mohadev Goshwami and Rita of Kanthaltali village in Kaliakoir.
Local sources said the boat, carrying five passengers, sailed for Chalabaho bazar from Kanthaltali in the morning. But, it sank few minutes after sailing.
In Narayanganj, three people, including a woman, were killed and one was injured in separate road accidents in the district Tuesday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Witnesses said the accident occurred at about 10 pm when the Dhaka bound bus of Ullash Paribahan dashed the rickshaw at the point, leaving a man and the woman dead on the spot and the rickshaw-puller injured.
On information police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. The rickshaw-puller was admitted to the same hospital in critical condition.
In another incident, Akash, a school student was crushed under the wheels of a speedy bus at noon at Bhuighar Bazipara village here. Later, police seized the killer bus but the driver managed to flee.
In Thakurgaon, a housewife died mysteriously Monday night at Bara Dahga village in Haripur Upazila here.
The deceased was identified as Rahima Khatun mother of two children and wife of Manik Hossain of the village.
Family members of Manik claimed that Rahima committed suicide by taking poison Monday night but her father Abdur Rahim alleged that his daughter was poisoned to death.
Victim's father filed a murder case against four people, including Manik Hossain.
A teenage schoolboy drowned in a pond at Ruhia village in Sadar Upazila Tuesday morning.
In Benapole, Krishak Dal general secretary of Sharsha Upazila died in a tragic road accident at Natunhat hereTuesday.
Police and witnesses said the Krishak Dal leader Ahsan Habib Tunu, son of Yunus Ali of Navaran Burujbagan village, was injured critically as a speeding truck rammed his motorbike while he was returning home in the morning.
In Chandpur, a helper of a bus was killed and 12 other passengers were injured in a road crash at Bagadi in Sadar Upazila Tuesday.The dead was identified as M Shukur Gazi of Dhanua village in the upazila.
