Twenty-one killed in separate incidents

Twenty-one persons were killed and many others injured in separate incidents in different places of the country during the last four days, report agencies.
In Kushtia, an extortionist was killed in a mass beating at Harishankarpur on the outskirts of the town early Tuesday.
The police said Kana Suruj and his gang went to Battoil to collect their demanded toll from the local people of the area at about 2.00am.
In Narsingdi, a police constable was killed in a road accident at Mahmudabad in Raipura Upazila Tuesday noon.
The police said Abdul Mannan was run over and killed by a bus on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at about 12.30pm.
The accident occurred when Abdul Mannan, a constable of Rajarbag police line, was waiting for a bus to go to his working place after the Eid holiday.
In Munshiganj, a storm lashed the district Monday night, leaving a man killed at Maliranka village in Lauhajang Upazila.
In Sylhet, the police recovered the body of a young man from a market at Barutkhana in the city Sunday.
In city, muggers stabbed to death a tailor master in the city's Mirpur area early Sunday.
In Narsingdi, a Kishoreganj-bound microbus from Narayanganj collided head-on with a passenger bus at Kukurmara on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Raipura Upazila Sunday, killing two passengers on the spot and injuring 15 others of the two vehicles.
In Manikganj, two people were killed and 20 others injured in an accident on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway at Muljan in Sadar Upazila Sunday morning.
In Magura, a man was killed and 25 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Barishat village in Sreepur Upazila Monday evening.
In Chittagong, five people were killed and over 40 wounded as a Dhaka-bound train, mostly carrying homebound people on the occasion of Eid, was derailed in Mirersarai Upazila Saturday.
Four passengers died on the spot while another died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Around 1,300 people were travelling in 16 bogies of the train while the number of passengers was around 300 in the five bogies that crashed onto the ground.
In another accident, a pickup van fell into a roadside ditch at Khasikapon in the same upazila in the evening, killing its driver on the spot. The identity of the driver could not be known immediately.
In Lalmonirhat, an alleged Phensidyl smuggler, Alekuddin was killed during exchange of fire between the smugglers' gang and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Teestar Char in Aditmari Upazila of the district early Friday.
Another alleged smuggler, Abdul Huq, injured in the shootout, has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
In Rajshahi, an alleged top-terror and smuggler was killed in a gun battle with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Professorpara under Boalia thana Monday night.
In Madaripur, a woman was killed in a road accident at Shahid Manik Nagar road in the town Friday, police said.
In Barisal, two persons were killed and three others injured in separate incidents at Ujirpur in the district.
In a separate incident an elderly person named Majid Hawlader of Jogirkanda village under Ujirpur was killed as he was hit by his opponent because of previous enmity.
