Two admit involvement in JU rape incident

A Dhaka court has recorded confessional statements of two accused in a case over gang-rape of a housewife after confining her husband on Jahangirnagar University campus, reports BSS.

The two accused are mastermind Md Mamunur Rashid alias Mamun (44) and his accomplice Md Murad Hossain.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Sheikh Mujahidul Islam recoded their statements under section 164 as police produced the duo before the court on Friday.

Earlier on February 8, Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Farhana Yasmin sent four other accused Mostafizur Rahman, his associates Sabbir Hasan, Sagar Siddique and Hasanuzzaman to jail after end of their three days of remand in the case.

The gruesome incident took place at around 9:30 pm on February 3.
