The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday sued two other accomplices of former banker Prashanta Kumar (PK) Haldar separately for their alleged complicity in embezzling Tk 34.80 million.
Cases were filed against Swapan Kumar Mistry, chairman of Neutral Ltd, and his wife Purnima Rani Haldar for their failure to submit their respective wealth statements to the graft-busting watchdog.
According to the case statements, the ACC finds evidence against Mr Mistry of amassing Tk 11.12 million and Mrs Haldar of Tk 23.68 million.
The commission has so far lodged 34 cases against PK Halder and his associates, says ACC Deputy Director (Public Relations) Md Arif Sadeq.
It rounded up at least 13 individuals. Of them, 11 confessed to their involvement in financial scams as per section 164 of the penal code.
The ACC issued separate notices to 33 members of the PK Haldar syndicate seeking their wealth statements, but 13 failed to submit within the stipulated time.
To date, the national anti-graft entity has frozen bank accounts of 83 individuals who are believed to be the close aides of PK Haldar.
Over Tk 10 billion worth of land, building and flats, owned by the syndicate, were also seized, according to the ACC public relations department.
Travel ban has been issued against 64 persons connected to money laundering, embezzlement and forgery.
