Two bodies formed for Bangabandhu Satellite Project

The government formed two committees under the Posts and Telecommuni-cations Division of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology for proper implementation of the 'Bangabandhu Satellite' project, officials said.

The Post and Tele­communication Division, issued two separate circulars last week in this connection, they added.

A nine-member steering committee has been constituted headed by the secretary of the Posts and Tele­com­munications Division.

On the other hand, a 10-member project implementation committee has also been formed headed by a commissioner of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

The main tasks of the two committees will be evaluation, directions and solution to problems relating to the project to ensure its right execution, sources said.

Overall supervision of the project would be done by the steering committee, they added. The project is being implemented by the BTRC.
