Two construction workers die falling off city high-rise

Two construction workers died falling off an under-construction high-rise building in the city's Agargaon area on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Rokon Uddin and Shahadat Hossain, according to the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Alif Ibne-Aziz, duty officer at the police station, said the two workers were on a hanging scaffold on the third floor of the building to do plaster job.

"As they were working, the scaffold's rope got loose and the workers fell off to the ground sustaining severe injuries," he said.

The co-workers at the site rushed the duo to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where they were declared dead.

Currently, the bodies of the deceased workers are kept in the DMCH morgue for autopsy, said DMCH Police Outpost Inspector Bachchu Mia.
