Separate courts in Chapainawabganj and Faridpur convicted on Tuesday two persons of killing their wives and sentenced them to life imprisonment, reports UNB.
In Chapainawabganj, Judge Enamul Bari of the Sessions' Judge Court jailed a man for life for killing his wife in 2011.
The convict was identified as Monirul Islam (37), son of Nazrul Islam of Chaitannapur village under Shibganj Upazila.
The court also fined him Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer two years more in rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Monirul strangulated his wife Champa Begum (30), to death on March 1, 2011 following an altercation over payment of loan installment.
Victim's mother Anarkoli Begum filed a case against eight people with Shibganj Police Station.
Police submitted charge sheet against Monirul on May 17, 2011.
In Faridpur, Sessions' Judge Bazlur Rahman sentenced the other man to life imprisonment for killing his wife in 2007.
The convict was identified as Sheikh Aslam (45), of Dagu Matubbar Dangi village in Sadarpur Upazila. The court also fined him Tk 20,000.
According to the prosecution, police recovered the decomposed body of Mokseda, wife of Aslam, from near her house on May 1, 2007.
Later, victim's father Abdul Khalek filed a case with Sadarpur Police Station in this regard.
