The looting of a cash box led to the double murder at a bus counter in Motijheel last week, investigators said Tuesday.
Two out of the three involved in the killings were arrested by members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from Comilla and Dhaka during overnight raids Tuesday.
The arrested were identified as Robin, a peon of Rajarbagh ticket counter of Soudia Paribahan, and Sohel, a helper of the transport agency.
A team of RAB-3 unit raided a spot in Comilla and arrested Sohel and later detained Robin from the city, ASP Rajib of the unit said.
He said the arrested had confessed to their involvement in the murders during interrogation. "Drives are on to nab another killer Al Amin, who went on hiding immediately after the murders," he added.
Quoting the arrested persons, the RAB-3 officer said the three went to the ticket counter of the transport agency in Inner Circular Road in Motijheel on March 16 with the plan to loot the cash box.
"The culprits first slaughtered Elias, the counter peon, as he tried to resist them and then strangled Sufiyan, a witness to the crime," he said.
